All current facts and regulations are based on the official legalization announced on 09.06.2022 and some official updates after that.

At the time of writing, the Cannabis and Hemp Act of Thailand is still in draft form. In Thailand things can change sudden and quick, that why it is really recommend to play by the current exact rules and do not challenge any grey zones- follow us to keep up to date to all regulations and laws regarding cannabis.

Yes as of 09.06.2022 stems, leaves and flowers including THC/ CBD content was removed off the list of narcotics. Be aware only the raw forms of the plant are legalized.

No smoking in public is not allowed and punishable with up to 3 month jail and/ or up to 25.000 thb fine. Also cannabis can counts as public nuisance and if people feel disturbed by it they can file a report or call the police.

Yes it is allowed to grow cannabis for personal use however the actual intention by the government is for medical use, still even for recreational use it is tolerated by the law until now. Also if growing you should register trough the government app plookganja- so far there are also no limits and all applications seems to go trough.

The legalization of cannabis / marijuana on 09.06.2022 was nation wide and there are no restrictions for any provinces.

No, all kind of vapes are not legal in Thailand and this counts for vaporizers and cartridges etc. Make sure when you carry cannabis on you, you don’t carry it along with any kind of vaporizer/ vapes. There are heavy fines on it – the fine is up to 30,000 bht and / or a jail sentence up to 10 years

Even now as it is legal to be high in Thailand it does not mean you can drive / ride under the influence of cannabis / marijuana. You will most likely get in trouble and processed the same as driving / riding under the influence of alcohol or reckless driving etc. Do not challenge the law!

There is a segment from the AOT (Airport of Thailand) travelers of legal age (20) are allowed to carry cannabis / marijuana on domestic flights in Thailand. So far there is also no limit of how many you are allowed to carry- keep in mind and play safe! Also remember that this is only allowed for raw forms of the plant, no edibles, oil, hash, liquids or vapes! And of course once leaving Thailand the laws of the destination country will apply!

No so far there is no limit of how much you can carry also the legal amount for personal use is not yet defined as the exact laws and regulations for cannabis / marijuana are not yet finalized and possible to change any time. Keep yourself up to date and follow us!

As of now no special licenses are required to sell cannabis for official business there are many dispensaries, restaurants, pubs, bars, medical clinics and online shops. We recommend only to buy from really official shops/ business for your own safety. Since the legalization it seems everyone selling, so be safe and avoid scams or tourist traps. Only allowed for raw flowers! No edibles or any other kind of processed forms except these with  FDA and under the limit of 0.2% THC/ CBD.

No, all kind of processed cannabis / marijuana including oils, extracts, edibles, hash etc… are regulated to have a maximum THC / CBD content of 0.2% also they must be approved by the FDA. Many shops seem to sell space cookies and other kind of edibles online, this is officially not allowed unless they are below the 0.2% limit of THC / CBD

Officially there are no Coffee Shops in Thailand as the using cannabis / marijuana is not legal in public spaces. Also by the law cannabis use in public counts as public nuisance and you can be prosecuted based on this. The fine is up to 3 month jail and / or 25.000 thb fine.

As the plant is removed form the list of narcotics you can not be prosecuted for the possession of the legal parts of the plant (flowers). There is also a statement of the Thonglor Police station (Major station in Bangkok) the officers can’t arrest people for the possession of cannabis / marijuana. Be aware that in Thailand even the police not always play by the rules, so be prepared with official staments, news describing the legal situation of cannabis / marijuana in Thailand, worst cases contact a lawyer.

Yes of course, doctors in Thailand must follow medical confidentiality and also being high in Thailand is as of now not punishable anymore. You don’t have to fear any legal consequences.

Miscellaneous

All kind of processed cannabis / marijuana including oils, extracts, edibles, hash etc… are regulated to have a maximum THC / CBD content of 0.2% also they must be approved by the FDA.

The quality of cannabis / marijuana varies from local outdoor thai “sticks” to high quality premium indoor strains. Since the legalization the variety has grown a lot and for sure you will find your favorite strain. Again safe yourself from troubles and buy from official shops only. Check our WeedMap!

4 Month after the legalization the quality of local weed has been increased a lot and there is now really good quality weed from all grades- Midgrade, Topshelf, Exoctics and even some really rare “Craft” Cannabis strains.

Most strains on the market are locally grown, however there’s also a grew market which sells Imports (from USA, Canada, Europe)

The import of cannabis / marijuana is still regulated via Thailand Narcotics act of 1979 and is not allowed. However there many Dispensaries offer also imported weed- High Thailand however recommends locally grown Cannabis to support the local market; also the quality of the local weed is now excellent.

Under certain circumstances there is a way to get a certain license to do so but it is regulated really strictly and applies for Thai citizens only.
