Grower: Kantry
Rating: 4.3 and 4.5 leaves respectively
I admire Kantry, their buds, their products (their balms are amazing), and their attitude. These guys are so serious about raising their game and getting into that elite level of cannabis in Thailand that they send multiple phenotypes to assess and move up. I am flattered to be included in their process—in particular because they seem to have the potential and trajectory of moving up to that top level. That trajectory includes not only moving up to where the elite Thai growers are today, but where they will be tomorrow. The market is dynamic—what is gold today, will be acceptable tomorrow—what is acceptable today, will be forgotten tomorrow.
Both Early Lemon Berry 02 and 12 are attractive buds, orangish green base covered in orange hairs and a lighter orange fuzz. That is where the similarities end. The smell, the taste and the high are all superior on 12 when compared to 02. 02 is a good bud, with a pleasant lemon, honey, light gassy odor and flavor, and a chill, focused and engaged high. A bud I would never turn down. But #12 is a bud that shows Kantry’s potential. Its odor is of oranges and lemons, berries, honey—it is dank, with a pungent full body funk. Similarly, #12 has a beautiful lip smacking orange funky taste which just leaves #02 in the dust. #12 high is soaring euphoric, chill but engaged with energy, a thinking and pondering high, creative and stimulating.
I highly recommend Early Lemon Berry (12) to all users. It hits all the spots, is incredibly fragrant, delicious, has a positive high and has no drawbacks. Perhaps 02 would be more appropriate for the most virgin of novices—but a quick graduation to 12 should follow.
