Grower: Rach Rollers

Rating: 4.4

Rach Roller’s Black Truffle is a bud I can return to over and over again. The bud is super earthy and natural, deep woodsy and adult, it really resonates with me and my preferences. The aroma has a sweet earth, piney, deep forest, great outdoors scent with mild pungency and spice. A dry pull reveals an herbal and menthol like “mouth smell”. The flavor begins with a good earthy truffle taste and builds with a post rain pine, accompanied by a sublayer of dark Chinese tea with floral and dried fruit hints. I love these aromas and flavors. The bud is super woodsy and piney—but swings into a deeper and danker place—a welcome alternative from the more common Pine Sol, pine and citrus,  aroma.

The high left me super relaxed, deep into my chair, awake and cognizant, but with thoughts coming at a slow pace. I had a long day battling a 3 year old boy—and this was a welcome way to let it all melt away and just sit back and relax and be alone with my slow generating thoughts.

I highly recommend this Black Truffle. The bud is highly natural and earthy—it is not sexy, modern or blingy—and I love it for these reasons, it really feels like a good old school cultivar. The bud has an appropriate strength to be enjoyed by an experienced consumer—and while a novice consumer should and can sample the bud, it must be done in moderation as the high is quite profound.
