Business owners have vehemently opposed attempts by the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) to establish Khao San Road as Thailand’s cannabis center.
The well-known tourist destination is unlikely to be positioned as Thailand’s cannabis hub because of the abundance of schools and temples nearby, according to deputy Bangkok governor Jakkapan Phiewngam.
Furthermore, he asserted, the BMA is not authorized to regulate the cannabis industry; only the Public Health Ministry is.
In the lack of rules that guarantee that all products offered are secure and of high caliber, Mr. Jakkapan warned that if Khao San Road becomes a cannabis hotspot, the reputation of the country may suffer.
