Da Funk may be one of the most reviewed cultivars on these pages. However, despite my familiarity with the cultivar (and my understanding that this may be from a cut which has previously graced these pages?), this particular bud was different. Very good. But different, nonetheless. This iteration of Da Funk has a pleasant and enjoyable pine citrus (pinesol) aroma with notes of kerosene and consistent medium pungency and light spice. The flavor is pine dominant with complementing tastes of diesel, and citrus with clove.
The high, which is this bud’s best attribute, is strong and intense both in the head and body. The initial headiness, which is accompanied by pressure on the lower back of the skull and temples, seemed to be moving towards anxiety, but before making that turn it pulled back and moved into a more stress free, chill and laid back high (which I welcomed). The bud also has a deep effect on the body with excellent pain relief and muscle relaxation. I probably smoked a bit too much as I was still a bit groggy and slow the next morning.
I recommend Thai Stick’s Da Funk to those consumers looking for very nice pine and citrus aromas and flavors—and milder but supporting “funk” notes. The high is too strong and intense for novice consumers.
