My stash is filled with different iterations of Permanent Marker. This is not a bad thing as I do appreciate that dark souled gassy cultivarโ€”but I do like variation. My initial thoughts when pulling Gypsy Jax into the queue were, โ€œPermanent Marker with a bit of yogurt.โ€ But there is more to this very excellent and layered bud. The first impression is one of PM like pungent and room filling fumes, but when you break through that cloud those fumes are curbed by a fruity yogurt which comes out more on the bright side berries rather than those dark deep fermented notes of PM. A dry pull foreshadows flavors of sweet herbal licorice as well as petrol. Once combusted the flavor of bright sweet fruits and gas comes through smoothly leaning heavily into an easy berry taste then developing earthy sweet herbal notes reminiscent of girl scout cookies and then swinging into an herbal licorice finish. The bud seems to be heading towards a bitter finish, but that never happens, instead the ever changing flavors remain sweet and pleasant. I loved this experience from start to finish.

The high is effective enough that its description did not make it into my notes. My apologies for thatโ€”but it seems that I did thoroughly enjoy that experience as well. From memory (it has been 18 hours since I burnt down) the bud slows down the body limiting motivation and making thought and execution of thought a challenge not worth undertaking. Lethargy creeps in rather quickly, leaving the consumer content but useless in life (at least for the hours after consumption).

I highly recommend Gypsy Jax to experienced consumers, but especially to those who are searching for variation in their gassy buds. This one is an excellent alternative to PMโ€”a bud which deserves the accolades it is receiving but should be alternated out from time to time for a different feel and experience. Novice consumers, it would be better to approach this bud with a bit more understanding and appreciation for cannabis and its different characteristics. But if you do approach this bud, donโ€™t take more than one or two puffs. This is a strong bud.
