Grower: Kantry
Rating: 4.5
One of the themes I keep returning to is the dynamic nature of growers in Thailand. The growers keep upping their game, growing better and better flowers. Each harvest makes the previous obsolete. Mere data points representing history—a history made irrelevant by the latest grow. Kantry is one of the growers that represents this phenomenon. From their point of view the current harvest is a point of time, a stop on their forward looking journey improving each grow. From my point of view I’m blow away to see how far we have come. As mentioned in earlier reviews, the scale keeps on evolving as the quality continues to elevate.
Kantry’s Mandarin Sunset is an excellent bud which cannot be ignored. It is beautiful, plump, springy, sticky, crystally, with multiple green hues and orange red hairs. The bud emits a gassy, honey, orange, tangerine odor with herby hints of rosemary and mint once broken up. The smoke is smooth, the ash white, and the flavor citrussy, earthy, herby and so very delicious. I enjoyed smoking this bud so much that I could not bear to part with the joint long enough to discharge the ash and instead just let it drop around me on the floor (My apologies, Mrs. Mendel. I cleaned it up.)
Mandarin Sunset’s high is strong and deep setting. But it is also euphoric, tingling, and stimulating creating a soaring, content and satisfied feeling which complements the quality of the bud so well. A feel good bud, incredibly enjoyable, until a deep sleep takes over.
Experienced users will love Mandarin Sunset. It is a gem and hits all the points. The strength and intensity of the bud, however, are too much for novice users—it will overwhelm their senses. This is a bud for virgins to aspire to.
