Rollinia from Bear Dog, a grower I know little about, is a nice and comforting bud. The bud comes out of its packing, pretty, well trimmed, dense and springy, with little fanfare and little aroma. But once the bud is picked apart, and even more so when ground, it emits a sweet piney, earthy, nutty, subtle menthol aroma. The flavor matches this aroma well with a good herbal, soapy earthy and minty taste. These flavors and aromas are never overwhelming or far reaching, tending to be more subtle and low key, but they are no doubt clean, natural and enjoyable.
The high is fairly balanced, perhaps leaning a bit towards the sativa side with a clear and focused head and a nice tingling body. A great beginners bud to get the pleasant and welcoming, enveloping feeling of cannabis without any negative or overwhelming feelings. A great bud to take the edge off and focus and carry out one’s work without any worry about being too high or forgetful or slipping away into an endless day dream.
I recommend Bear Dog’s Rollinia to novice consumers who should feel safe in the hands of this bud. The flavors and aromas are quite classic, old school, with a fine and clean quality. Experienced consumers may wish to use this bud for daytime purposes for high pressure or stressful times—to get a bit more relaxed while keeping alert and focused on the task at hand.
