I have to give it to Cloud 9, they have put out some crosses of established cultivars I have grown bored of with an added kick and character. Their RS11 x Rancid Skunk take the established candy flavors of RS11 and adds a bit of depth and contrast with Rancid Skunk. The bud has a strong gassiness of overripe red candy fruit with the addition of sour yogurt. An aroma which definitely got my attention. The flavor has good punch and funk mixed in with a red candy flavor and developing a noticeable old school woodsy herbiness as the bud burns down. The bud concludes with the candy fruit flavor evident, but it takes a backseat to a skunky woodsy menthol taste.
The high slows everything down. Muscles are relaxed, the body is chill and laid back. There is no rush to do or accomplish anything—but nothing preventing progress either. I smoked this bud while sitting outside and just chilled out enjoying the breeze on my skin for a good hour without doing anything. My last notes jotted down state, “definitely a feel good slow down bud, but I think I could probably work slowly and concentrate and really get things done.”
I highly recommend RS11 x Rancid Skunk to all consumers. The flavors and aromas are a welcome adjustment to the neo-classical candy cultivars which the young’ns seem drawn to. The high is a pretty awesome feel good one which does not overwhelm or sedate but does fully take over the mind and body. I do believe that the bud would be appropriate for novice consumers—in moderation.
