When I first received my samples from Siam Hektares, I opened each bag, pinched and sniffed the buds and told the chivalrous messenger who delivered these treasures “looks pretty good—nice greenhouse buds—something I’ll enjoy smoking during the day time.” I am only two samples in—but they have both tucked me snuggly into bed—and with future samples I’ll make sure that my day is at the end once I light up.
I picked Watermelon Punch under the (wrong) assumption that it would be less sedating. The buds, like the other samples, are deep green, plump and dense, not as dry as I am used to. Once pinched the bud let out layers of aromas of spiced wine and a mix of juices at the bottom of a fruit salad. An earthy skunky funk comes out next and lingers on the fingers and is highly evident in a dry pull. The flavor, an herby, spiced watermelon is more earthy than sweet and stays true through most of the joint.
There is no doubt that Siam Hektares grows high quality buds, the odors, flavors and smoke are clean, tasty, fresh. The high is serious—a sleepy, full body stoned feeling with hunger and stimulated senses. This is not a creeper—there is no secret in the high—about halfway through the joint the toker knows what is in store. Indeed, I passed out on my couch only to wake up to the television blaring and numerous messages on my phone. Watermelon Punch is not for novice users. It is a sedating, flavorful bud which provides a relaxed stoned feeling before putting its user to a happy deep sleep—it should be used for these purposes.
